Aymavilles Power Plant
The Aymavilles hydroelectric power plant is located at the end of the long canal that, from the intake on the Dora Baltea at Mecosse, just downstream of the Avise plant outlet, collects the discharges from the Champagne 1, Champagne 2 and Chavonne power plants. Its waters pass through the turbine of the Grand Eyvia hydroelectric power plant and finally increase with the flow of the intake on the stream bearing the same name.
Its two hydraulic turbines deliver a total power of 8.6 MW. On the medium-voltage system busbars, in addition to its two units, the cables of the Grand Eyvia power plant unit also stand, and then feed the renewable energy produced onto the 132 kV grid through the external power station.
In 1997, the plant was almost totally renovated: of the old one, which had four penstocks for the production units and one for the two excitation units, the hydraulic diversion part and the engine room building remained unchanged.
